Meetings vs Live Events
Microsoft Teams gives users the option to create either a Meeting or a Live Event. What's the difference?
Meeting:
Teams Meetings are designed for synchronous collaboration. Currently, a Teams Meeting is limited to a total of 250 people on the call. Attendees can share webcam video, create a whiteboard, or share out their desktop. Invitations can be sent to individuals or teams of people. Meetings are best used for smaller, collaborative efforts.
Live Event:
Teams Live Events are designed for presentation style meetings, where most attendees are 鈥渧iew only鈥. With this version of Teams, up to 10,000 attendees can join the event, but can only participate via text-based Q&A.
The standard Live Event mode allows multiple, virtual presenters who can share audio, webcams and their screens to present content. Teams Live Sessions are best used for one-to-many presentation.

Recordings
Microsoft has recently changed the way that Teams Meeting Recordings are stored.
Historically recordings were stored in Microsoft Stream. Moving forward for standard meetings, the recordings will automatically be saved in the OneDrive of the person who recorded the Meeting. The permissions will automatically be set to allow for anyone who attended the meeting will be able to access the recording.
Teams Meetings that are associated with a Teams Channel will be saved to the SharePoint Online site of that Team. All meeting recordings will still be accessible via the Teams chat for that meeting as they are today.
This change will now allow for more flexibility in sharing these recordings, including the ability to share them outside the organization if needed (Stream could not do this). Some functionality that was in Stream, such as meeting transcriptions, has not yet been included in the OneDrive storage location. These features will be added by Microsoft at a later date. If you need audio transcription for your meeting recording, it is recommended that Zoom be used until Microsoft adds the functionality.
