Music Student Selected to Perform in Sisters in Jazz Collegiate Combo

Domi Edson, a first-year graduate student from the University of Northern Colorado鈥檚 School of Music, has been selected to perform as one of five members in the Sisters in at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, in New Orleans.

Edson, who is originally from Seattle, will play the double bass, her primary instrument, in the quintet. She鈥檚 been interested in jazz since high school.
鈥淭he Jazz Education Network鈥檚 Sisters in Jazz is essentially an all-star collegiate combo where they choose one person per instrument from all over the world; it鈥檚 very competitive,鈥 she said. 鈥淎t 甜心视频app, all of the faculty members [in the School of Music] are working musicians and have much to pass on to the students, so I鈥檓 trying to be as much of a sponge as possible.鈥
The Sisters in Jazz Collegiate Combo Competition was open to full-time university students who identify as women or non-binary jazz artists between the ages of 18 to 29. Renowned jazz teacher and artist , a Denver native and a professor at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, will direct the performance.
