Elementary Education B.A. - Elementary Education Endorsement (K-6), Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Concentration, and Education M.A.T. — Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education Concentration Accelerated (4+1) Program

Did you know you can work on your master's degree while you're doing your undergrad studies? Students in the Elementary Education Licensure Program will earn a teaching license and a CLD Endorsement and go on to complete an MAT in CLD in one year post graduation.

Program Description

Undergraduate students enrolled in the Elementary Education 4+1 MAT CLD program will start taking the following graduate courses in their junior and senior years: ECLD 592, ECLD 594 and ECLD 523 to count towards the bachelor's and the master's Degree Programs. Upon the completion of the undergraduate degree with a GPA at 3:00 and above, students then apply to the graduate program and take the remaining 6 graduate courses: ECLD 602, ECLD 601, ECLD 612, ECLD 605, SRM 600 and one elective in one-year to earn the master's degree.

Timeline

In Junior and Senior Years, schedule the following three courses (9 credits) based on advisement from the CLD advisor:

For Fall Start:

  • Fall Semester: ECLD 592
  • Spring Semester: ECLD 523
  • Summer Option: ECLD 594, ECLD 593 (as grad only course)
  • Fall Semester: ECLD 594

For Spring Start:

  • Spring Semester: ECLD 592
  • Summer Option: ECLD 594, ECLD 593 (as grad only course)
  • Fall Semester: ECLD 594
  • Spring Semester: ECLD 523

Note:

  • Fall or Spring: ECLD 592 for ECLD 360 in non 4+1 (3 credits, counts for both degrees)
  • Fall or Summer: ECLD 594 for ECLD 380 in non 4+1 (3 credits, counts for both degrees)
  • Spring of Summer: ECLD 523 for ECLD 455 in non 4+1 (3 credits, counts for both degrees)

To Complete the Master's in CLD Program in Year 5:

Starting the semester after completion of Senior year and graduation with the BA: Complete the following 7 courses (21 credits) taking two courses each semester including summer:

  • SRM 600 (3 credits)
  • ECLD 593 (3 credits)
  • ECLD 602 (3 credits)
  • ECLD 612 (3 credits)
  • ECLD 605 (3 credits)
  • ECLD 601 (3 credits) *601 waiving ECLD 611 as a result of taking a CLD methods course in the undergraduate Elementary CLD program
  • ECLD Elective (3 credits) Waiving ECLD 504 as a result of taking a practicum course in the undergraduate Elementary CLD program
