Organizations

The following are professional organizations pertaining to legal interpreting and the judicial system. 

The (LIMS) is a forum within the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. The LIMS forum provides a place to discuss, collaborate, and network around the specialty of legal interpreting. It is open to all who interpret in legal and court settings, both deaf and hearing interpreters.

The (NAJIT) promotes professional standards for interpreters and translators working in the judiciary system. 

High quality, professional interpreting and translation services during the administration of justice ensures equal protection and access as well as due process for non-English or limited English proficient individuals.

The (NCSC) is an independent, non-profit organization geared towards improvement in judicial administration.

NCSC supports state courts by being a clearinghouse for research information and comparative data. Courts use NCSC for it's authoritative knowledge, information, and it's collaboration with other judicial organizations and leaders. 

(LASS) is an area of expertise within NCSC. LASS offers resources to address language barriers as providing individual with limited English proficiency access is a core function of the court.

The contents of the Project CLIMB website was developed under a grant (#H160D160001) from the Department of Education. The contents do not necessarily represent the policy of the Department of Education. Do not assume endorsement by the Federal government.

As of December 31, 2021, this grant project is no longer active or soliciting applications.
This website will remain available as a resource.
